Gives a student access to arts education for one week.

Cambodian Living Arts (CLA) is a non-profit organization based in Cambodia. Our mission is to facilitate the transformation of Cambodia through the arts. We collaborate to create an environment where Cambodian arts empower and transform individuals and communities. We do this by building the capacity of artists and the arts community, by promoting awareness of the arts, and by advocating for the arts with cultural policymakers and major institutions. In doing so, we aim to create value and understanding of what it means to be Cambodian and to create a sense of unity and shared culture. We believe that through creativity we can each expand our potential as human beings.

CLA was founded in 1998 by Arn Chorn-Pond, genocide survivor and internationally acclaimed human rights spokeperson. During the Khmer Rouge, he survived by playing propaganda music in death camps. Between 1975 and 1979, 25% of the Cambodian population perished, and it is thought that approximately 90% of Cambodia’s artists were among the dead. Arn created CLA to honor the surviving master artists and help ensure the future of Cambodia’s traditional arts.

Today, CLA envisions by a vibrant and dynamic cultural sector throughout Cambodia. Cambodian Living Arts will be a catalyst for the arts becoming the country’s national and international signature.

Access for Cambodian youth to traditional performing arts classes by recognized teachers in any of the 9 Cambodian provinces where CLA works, for one week.

We offer Living Arts Tours where guests visit Cambodian traditional performing arts (dance, theater, music, shadow puppetry etc.) being taught. Days and time vary for each class.
